Accommodation

Volunteers have their own house with basic accommodation (rooms, beds, shower facilities and latrine).

Volunteers eat with villagers. The diet consists of a traditional Shuar diet with a mix of Western foods occasionally. The stable diet is manioc, plantain, sweet yam (potato like root crop), vegetables, chilli, meat and occasionally rice or noodles. Another stable part of the diet is the Chicha or Nijiamanch (in Shuar). The Chicha lightly alcoholic and starchy traditional drink, consisting of primarily boiled and fermented manioc.
